Dr. Danny Pickens - Dir. of Missions
Danny came to SBA in 1999 as the Director of Church Ministries. Upon the resignation of the Executive Director in 2001, Danny was called to become the new Director of Missions. Danny holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from East Texas Baptist College, a Master of Arts in Religious Education from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, and a Doctor of Educational Ministries degree, also from SWBTS. Danny has lived in and around Tyler since 1969. His knowledge of Tyler, the experience gained from serving East Texas churches in several different roles for 39 years, and his love for missions, makes him uniquely qualified as our Director of Missions. danny@smithbaptist.org.
Sue Sexton - Secretary
Sue Sexton, served alongside her husband Bob as a pastor’s wife for twenty-seven years. After his retirement in 2002, she began helping in the office as a volunteer. Soon she began working with Smith Association as a paid employee on an “as needed” basis. With the increased ministry of SBA she has become a part-time associational secretary. Her experience as a pastor’s wife and her seven years service as a church secretary provides our office with a totally different perspective. Sue is a very capable and efficient secretary, and loves the Lord and His work. sue@smithbaptist.org
Paula Pickens - Ministry Assistant
Paula brought nine years experience as a Senior Pastor Administrative Assistant and 32 years as a minister’s wife when she joined SBA in May 2011. She enjoys helping people. Her goal is to always feel as though she has helped a person when they call or walk in the office . Paula has been married to Dr. Pickens since 1973. They have two daughters, four WONDERFUL grandchildren, and two of the cutest little great granddaughters. She has been the pianist at Mt. Carmel Baptist Church in Whitehouse since 2000. She loves music and desires that her playing is a blessing to those around her. She is very eager to help you. Jamie Hawbaker - Financial Clerk
Jamie Hawbaker is our contracted financial clerk. Jamie joined SBA in January, 2018 following Harold Richardson’s retirement. We have really come to love Jamie and appreciate all that she does for us. She is a member of The Woods Baptist where she also serves as Church Secretary/Financial Clerk.
